Inspiration comes like a shot out of the blue, this time it was from the deep blue of sea and sky, the gold of a year gone by, and promise of the year to come. My friend, Gallery Director, and photographer, Jennifer Steven sent me a breathtaking shot of the sun setting on the last day of 2014, the eve of the new year 2015.

The sun setting on an old year revealed the passion of life for me, a couple walking on the beach enjoying mother nature and the beauty she shows us. I thought of the love of the land and the sea and the history of west coast people who have existed through eon of time.
I was reminded of the protective wings of the eagle that began my life in Tofino thirty-four years ago. My mind was filled with thoughts of gratitude for Mother Earth, my mother of birth, and all the matriarchs who love and teach. I considered the four faces of every human, the baby, the youth, the middle-aged, and the elder. I mused on the sands of Long Beach and the sands of time. I considered my fortune of a career spanning 42 years to date, a gallery, and history in the little town of Tofino. The building of Eagle Aerie Gallery that changed the way of living and millions of lives and the good fortune of having Jennifer there to take care of the gallery allowing my family and I to move to the north country and begin a new chapter of life on the Skeena River.
There are so many thoughts that come to mind inspired by a golden sunset on the Pacific Rim. These are a few of the thoughts that come from the magic of inspiration.
