I am aware of the fear I carry for the generations to come, not just of our descendants, but of the baby orcas that rely on decisions we make each day on this earth. At a time when large corporations greedily continue to extract oil from our Mother Earth and sell it for billions of dollars around the world, I see a threat to the orca and all marine life. This threat is from the proposed supertankers carrying oil up and down BC coastal waters.

The orcas, like all whales, depend on echolocation to communicate. Supertankers traveling in the confined spaces of our Inside Passage leave no place for shelter from the noise pollution of massive propellers and the constant sonar pings from navigational devices. We cannot allow some things to happen, such as supertankers carrying dangerous cargo in BC coastal waters.

I hope and pray that this creation helps people stop, look, and listen to the heartbeat of life. Some things are far more valuable than money, and a good example is the life of a baby orca that depends on the caring heart of us humans.

Thank you, Jennifer, for the inspiration behind this creation titled Baby Orca.
