Each time that I return to this picturesque village on the banks of the Skeena River, countless memories and emotions flood my mind and soul.

One of my most memorable recollections, is as a child of five on my first visit to the interior of the province from my home in the village of Kitkatla. Skeena Crossing, with it's snow-covered earth, trees with no leaves, horses and the wonderful smell of birchwood from a cozy fireplace, as a contrast with Kitkatla and its coastal rains, evergreen trees, eagles, whales and cedarwood fires.

I have travelled to many places during the ensuing years and it is always a pleasure to return to the Skeena River and the warmth of birchwood fires, particularly when it's snowing and sixteen below outside.
