The wolf is an important crest of families on the Northwest Coast. A symbol of strength, it represents the lessons to be learned from thoughtful contemplation of the world and the experience that life brings. Encounters with wild animals on the West Coast are becoming more frequent. There are many reasons for this and the best thing we can do as humans is to accept it with respect for wild animals and their right to live alongside us in this world. There is a small pack of wolves that has been seen lately on Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park. I appreciate seeing these animals in their wild habitat. I have found wolves for the most part to be cautious and afraid of humans, keeping out of view with their pack.

When it comes to the Wolves of Long Beach I hope they are always given the freedom to be in this majestic and wild west coast park area we all love.
