Captain's Cove is a beautiful anchorage, not too far from my home village of Kitkatla. As a young man I used to canoe there from the village to watch the salmon, trout and steelhead making their way up the creek to the lake. I've always wanted to return to this beautiful spot in the Great Bear Rainforest.
This September I had a wonderful opportunity to travel to Captain's Cove for an evening anchorage with a good friend, Norman Larson. The gulls cry echoed from the hillside as the soft colors of a Kitkatla sunset filled the sky and reflected in the calm waters of the bay. We watched the colors fade and the stars come out to say good night.
We enjoyed a peaceful sleep anchored in the calmness of Captains Cove.
