I was the skipper of a freezer troller. My first otter sighting was many miles offshore. As I trolled along one day, I passed this peculiar-looking sight: an otter floating on its back. He just lay on the ocean surface and watched as I went by. I hoped to see another, but have yet to do so.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003eI was in Tofino for spring break with my family. After a few days in the gallery, I enjoyed visiting Hot Springs Cove with friends and family.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003eAs we headed around the far side of Flores Island, we came across four sea otters enjoying the area. They were the first ones I had seen in more than two decades. A day or two later, a young girl brought me a postcard with a photograph of a sea otter her father had taken. On the same trip, we visited Science World in Vancouver, and my son chose a stuffed toy sea otter to remember the trip\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003e. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"\u003eI thought of the many years the Sea Otter was near extinction.
