I’ve spent many beautiful evenings there watching the sunset over Clayoquot Sound. There is a history behind the name of the beach which comes from the ship, Tonquin, which was destroyed in the channel. The crew of the ship were killed by the local Tla-o-qui-aht people over a dispute involving the trade of sea otter pelts.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eToday many visit this beautiful beach and can often see orca or grey whales rubbing and playing on the sandbar in Templar Channel.
