I have been inspired to create images from the beauty of life and the land in which we live. This piece was inspired by a group of people devoted to saving a ski hill for the communities surrounding Terrace, BC.

My Mountain Co-op is dedicated to purchasing Shames Ski Hill as a Cooperative, which will make it the first of its kind in Canada. The present facility is enjoyed by many communities from Prince Rupert to Smithers and is known as Shames Mountain Ski Hill.

I was so inspired by those leaders who have banded together in a wonderful show of community spirit that I’ve created this image called Skaniist. In the ancient language of my Tsimshian ancestors, Skaniist can be interpreted as “mountain”.

There are 150 numbered and signed original hand-screened prints in this edition, with proceeds going to My Mountain Group. I am proud and honoured to be a partner in this project and hope that we can see this through to the goal of having My Mountain owned by a caring community.
