AN OLD EAGLE - CONSIGNMENT #24/50

Edition Date: 1985
Artist: Roy Henry Vickers
Medium: Serigraph
Image Size: 14 1/4" x 21 1/4

On a visit to the ancient village site of Ninsints, I came upon an old eagle totem pole that had seen better days. A lifetime of wind, rain, and sun had left their marks on this stately old pole. The beak had long since decayed and fallen from the bird’s face. The remains of the old eagle were silvery grey with deep, weathered lines in the grain of the wood. The pole stood at a great angle that hinted at its descent; to be reunited with the womb of Mother Earth. A desire to capture the demise of this once tall and proud sculpture overcame me. The result of my efforts was AN OLD EAGLE.
