There are four clans in Gitxaala, my home village, also known as Kitkatla, B.C. All children are born into the clan of the mother. I was born Eagle, the first of my series of the four clans, or tribes as they are known at home.
The wolf is a great example of social order and teamwork when hunting food. The howl of wolves is one of the most wild and beautiful sounds of the pristine areas of the coast. Our homes, totems, and canoes came from the beautiful cedar trees. Wolf & Cedar is a combination of a great hunter and one of the most important natural resources found in the Great Bear Rainforest.
