- Story
My home village is Kitkatla, now spelled, Gitxaala, B.C. It’s a 5000-year-old village on Dolphin Island about 68 kilometers SW of Prince Rupert. The area is rich in all kinds of seafood, hence the age of the village.
I favor many anchorages in the area, and the one I’ve used the most is Billy Bay, across Kitkatla Inlet from the village. Billy Bay has been producing beautiful Dungeness crabs for thousands of years; this was my first attraction to the bay.
These past years Billy Bay is my first choice to anchor. It is completely protected from all winds, and the views of sunsets on a summer night are heavenly.
