Raven Sunset

It was the beautiful evening of March 28, 2021. The sunset was a spectacular display of orange as the sun came close to the horizon. I was excited to see another beautiful pacific sunset in Tofino. I’ve seen many sunsets here over the years and each one has its own magic. My family was with me on this trip and we were all excited.

I walked out on North Chesterman beach and headed to a good vantage point near the tideline. I stopped in awe as I looked up and saw four people sitting on a big log that was perched on top of the rocks, where an earlier high tide had deposited it. The two couples were enjoying the magic of a Tofino Sunset as well. I was struck by the romantic scene and stopped to take a few photos.

I continued on to enjoy the magic as it unfolded. I stopped to say hi to the people on the log and shared the photo with them and told them there would be a new creation coming that was inspired by this moment.

When I got home and went through the photographs there was the scene of the four and a raven flying over. I then noticed that the end of the log looked like the head of a raven as well.

The raven is my crest from the house of Walkus in Wuikinuxv, B.C. so the ancient symbol of Mr. Raven supports the scene and rises over.
