THE RAM

Edition Date: March 2015
Artist: Roy Henry Vickers
Medium: Serigraph
Image Size: 12" x 19"
Edition Size: 80

Over the years I've enjoyed getting into the mountains to see Rocky Mountain Big Horn as well as Stone and Dall Sheep.
In recent years it has been disturbing to see these beautiful animals low on the protection list of the Federal Fish and Wildlife branch. I have enjoyed hunting these more fir ego and bragging rights than for appreciation of the meat. These days I take no pleasure in shooting these kings of the mountains with anything other than a camera.
The inspiration for this Ram is from the work of wildlife photographer, Paul Colangelo. When I saw his photo of the young ram skylined on a mountain it brought many thoughts of the hunts I've been on and my love of the high country. It also reminds me of the fact that a young ram is like a promise that there is a future for wild sheep in Canada.
